Summary of Position 
 The National Geographic Channels International (NGCI) Acquisitions Department is looking for an intern for the Fall semester for academic credit (no pay). The intern will learn how to evaluate programs submitted by distributors and producers and sharpen his/her story sense and communication skills. This is a part-time internship opportunity beginning in September 2009. 
 Internship Responsibilities 
 - Learn how to evaluate programs submitted to NGCI and NGC-US
 
- Learn how to articulate responses through written summaries to distributors
 
- Attend internal acquisitions meetings and many global programming meetings.
 
- Research distributors, film festivals, television markets in order to gain an understanding of the global acquisitions landscape. 
 Minimum Education & Experience 
 The successful candidate will be a college student in his/her junior/senior year, preferably majoring in communication, media, or film. Some computer knowledge is necessary. Students with an interest in documentaries, television or media will benefit the most from this internship. 
 Knowledge & Skill Requirements 
 Computer competency is necessary, along with familiarity with the Internet, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Applicants should have strong writing and research skills as well as a proven record of leadership initiative, resourcefulness and enthusiasm; a zeal for historical and cultural subject matter; and an eagerness to learn. 
 Application Requirements 
 School credit must be obtained. Please ask your internship coordinator to verify that this internship would qualify for credit hours. In addition, proof of identity and employment eligibility is required.
